Where The Last of Us Filmed Near Calgary

Episode 6 of The Last of Us used land at Stoney Park Campgrounds on Stoney Nakoda Nation land, about an hour west of Calgary. If you want the open ridge, the river valley, and the foothills from that stretch of the show, start with Section F.

Reserve a site at Stoney Park

Where the episode was filmed

The wide grassland shots in Episode 6 line up with the open sections of Stoney Park, especially the ridge above the Bow River. Section F, sites F1 through F10, sit on that ridge with broad western views.

Section A also fits the look of the episode, but from a different angle. It opens out toward the mountains and a ravine below. Section C feels more sheltered and treed, so it does not match the broad open look as closely.

Best sections to book

Section F: Best fit for the view most people recognize from the episode. Open ground, no power, and direct views over the river corridor.

Section A: Wide mountain views and more elevation. Good if Section F is full and you still want open country.

Section C: More tree cover and shade. Better for privacy than for the Episode 6 look.

Section D: The only section with power hookups. Choose it if you need electrical service for an RV.

F7 is the site guests ask about most. If F7 is booked, start with F3 or F5.

The land and the campground

Stoney Park sits on Stoney 142, 143, and 144, on Stoney Nakoda Nation land. A Stoney Nakoda family runs the campground.

The family reopened the campground for the 2026 season after nearly 20 years. They cleared sites, rebuilt roads, and brought services back in. The setting stayed the same: open ground, river valley, foothills, and long evening light.

Cost and access

Stoney Park sits outside the provincial park system, so you do not need a Kananaskis Conservation Pass.

If you usually camp in Kananaskis Country, that changes the math. Bow Valley Provincial Park charges the site fee plus the pass. At Stoney Park, the booking price is the full price.

Good to know

Check-in starts at 10:30 AM. Check-out is before 10:30 AM. Quiet hours run from 11 PM to 7 AM. Firewood is sold at the office. Pets are welcome on leash.

Getting there
